Shopify Metafields

Listing Mirror now supports Shopify Metafields, allowing you to sync custom Shopify data into and out of Listing Mirror and map it to fields on other supported channels.

What Are Shopify Metafields?

Shopify Metafields are custom fields that let you store additional information on products, variants, collections, customers, and more. They’re commonly used for things like:

  • Technical specifications

    Care instructions

  • Custom product attributes

  • Channel-specific data not covered by standard Shopify fields

Listing Mirror now treats these metafields as first-class syncable data.

What Listing Mirror Supports

Listing Mirror will:

  • Pull Shopify metafields into Listing Mirror automatically

  • Push updates back to Shopify metafields when changes are made in Listing Mirror

  • Map Shopify metafields to fields on other channels when Custom Attributes are set up

  • Map other channel fields into Shopify metafields via Custom Attributes

⚠️ Metafields must be first created in Shopify to be imported, edited, or mapped.

Sync Direction Options

Listing Mirror allows a two-way sync option for metafields. Simply update the listing in Listing Mirror or inside of Shopify and the change will be reflected in both places.

⚠️ Due to a limitation in the Shopify API, variation-level metafields do not automatically sync from Shopify to Listing Mirror. To pull in updated variation metafield values, you’ll need to manually sync the listing within Listing Mirror. Product-level metafields will automatically sync from Shopify to Listing Mirror.

Common Use Cases

  • Send Shopify metafields to other channels to build more complete products

  • Store specific data in Shopify without cluttering core fields

  • Centralize custom product data in Listing Mirror

  • Preserve structured data when syncing across multiple marketplaces

Important Notes & Limitations

  • Metafields must exist in Shopify before mapping

  • Fields will be grouped by Namespace

  • Large or deeply nested metafields may be truncated by channel limits

  • Channel support depends on that channel’s field capabilities

Troubleshooting Tips

  • If a metafield doesn’t appear, confirm it exists in Shopify and has at least one value

  • Double-check namespace/key spelling

  • Run a manual sync after creating new mappings
