Learn the reasons a SKU could oversell or have negative quantities.
Inventory quantities are tracked across marketplaces based on your marketplace integration settings in Listing Mirror. At times, it is possible for a SKU to show as oversold or have a negative quantity.
To track down the reason, check the following:
1. Were merchant fulfilled quantities added outside of Listing Mirror?
When using Listing Mirror to manage your inventory, it's essential to adjust quantities in your Listing Mirror account in order for quantities to be tracked accurately.
Similarly, if you're using inventory management software that isn't connected to Listing Mirror, our system will not be able to monitor quantity changes potentially leading to a SKU being shown as oversold.
2. Was an order placed on a sales channel Listing Mirror isn't syncing quantity to?
You can view this setting by going to Integrations > Manage Integrations > select the marketplace > in the Inventory section, check the setting for Update Inventory.
3. Was a listing created on a marketplace (not in Listing Mirror) using a duplicate SKU?
Although the listing was created using a SKU that already exists in Listing Mirror, the new listing is separate and will not be recognized by Listing Mirror.
When a customer makes a purchase, Listing Mirror's SKU-based system will automatically identify the SKU and adjust quantities accordingly.
To keep inventory tracking accurate, it is crucial to add listings to new marketplaces through the Manage Listings page or added in bulk using our Create and Delete spreadsheet.
4. Were quantities added to a listing that has an error?
Listing Mirror is not able to sync updates when the listing has a marketplace error or incomplete status.
To view the listing, go to Listings > Manage Listings > search for the SKU > if the listing status is "Error" or "Incomplete", click the edit icon in the marketplace column for more info.
Once the error has been cleared, Listing Mirror will sync updates to the marketplace.
5. Could timing have played a role?
While uncommon, it is possible for an item to be sold simultaneously on different marketplaces.
Marketplace processing time could also cause an item to oversell. Occasionally, a marketplace could experience a delay in processing quantity updates from Listing Mirror. This could result in sales going through even after Listing Mirror has synced zero quantity.
6. Has an error has occurred on the marketplace?
Sometimes a marketplace will not update quantity even when Listing Mirror has sent it. If you think is the case, contact our support team to request the FEED ID#. You'll need to open a ticket with marketplace's seller support team, but providing them with the FEED ID# should help them resolve the issue quickly.
