Understanding and Managing Custom Attributes
Learn how to create, view, and use custom attributes to automatically sync product data across multiple marketplaces.
What are Custom Attributes?
Custom Attributes allow you to pull data from one sales channel or manually enter product information, then push that data to specific fields across other marketplaces. Whether you're mapping material, brand, bullet points, or custom product details unique to your catalog—set it once, and the system takes care of the rest.
You can define a single source field—or leave it blank to enter your own custom value.
There’s no limit to the number of target fields you can apply the data to.
Example:
If you'd like the item cost from Amazon to automatically populate the cost field on eBay, WooCommerce, and Shopify, you can set up a custom attribute to do just that:
Manage Custom Attributes: View and Create
Go to Listings > Custom Attributes
Here you can view existing Custom Attributes as well as create new ones:
Let's create a new Custom Attribute.
- Click Create New Attribute
- Set a Field Name (can be whatever you like)
- Set the Source Field. Listing Mirror will pull data from the market field you specify. If left blank, you will need to fill out this Custom Attribute field manually on the Product Edit page
- Assign the Target Fields. These are the marketplace listing fields that Listing Mirror will sync with the custom product field.
Once the Custom Attribute is made, Listing Mirror will pull the data from the source to fill out the new Product custom attribute. Then it will fill out the target field for all existing listings under that market. This may take ~10 minutes.
Listings: View and Create from Listing Edit Pages
A listing field can exist in one of three states:
- Source Field – The data from this field is automatically used to update other fields. These fields appear enabled and and feature a connect icon with a blue top and black bottom. Clicking the icon will explain which custom attribute the field is linked to.
- Target Field – The data from this field is being sourced from elsewhere. These fields are disabled and feature a connect icon with a black top and blue bottom. Clicking the icon will will explain which custom attribute the field is linked to.
-
Standalone Field – Not linked to any custom attribute as either a source or target. These fields appear as enabled and display a solid black connect icon. Clicking the icon will show an action called "Pull from existing data".
Clicking "Pull from existing data" will populate a modal where you can select which marketplace field you want to use to fill in the listing.
Note that selecting a marketplace and field and setting the source field will then fill out the target field for all existing listings under that market.
Listings with Custom Field Options
Some marketplaces—such as eBay and WooCommerce—allow sellers to create and name custom fields unique to their listings. You can use Custom Attributes to automatically populate these fields. Here’s how to set it up:
Setting Up from the Custom Attribute Page
- On the Custom Attribute Setup page, add a Target Field.
- A modal will appear. When you select a marketplace that supports custom fields (like eBay), you'll see two options:
- Marketplace Fields – Standard fields provided by the marketplace. These cannot be changed.
- Custom Fields – These are fields you've personally created and named for your listings. To create a new custom field, simply enter a new field name in the text box provided.
Setting Up from the Listing Edit Page
If you're setting up a custom attribute directly from the Listing Edit page, follow the same steps as you would for a standalone field. You’ll have the same options for selecting and mapping a source field to the custom field.
Viewing Custom Fields on the Listing Edit Page
Custom fields that are linked to a custom attribute will appear on every Listing Edit page. To keep the interface clean, any empty custom fields are hidden behind a “+ Show empty custom fields” link. Additionally, these empty custom fields will not be displayed on the live marketplace listing, ensuring your product pages remain tidy and professional.
